Mr Jaan Reinhold is the Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to the Commonwealth of Australia since August 2024.
Ambassador Reinhold has over 20 years of professional experience in the Estonian foreign service. Mr Reinhold launched his public service career as Senior Advisor at the Government Office of the Republic of Estonia.
Prior to taking the current position, he served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Arab Emirates (2019-2024) with co-accreditations to the State of Kuwait, Kingdom of Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar. Mr Reinhold was also Estonia’s permanent representative to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
Mr Reinhold also held the position of Ambassador at large for EU Eastern Partnership and the Director General of the Estonian Center for Eastern Partnership (2016-2019). He has served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Kazakhstan, accredited to Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan (2014-2016), as well as Consul General of Estonia in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China (2011-2014). Mr Reinhold also carried out his duties as Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Estonia to Lithuania in 2006-2010.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History of Law, Political Science and Archival Science from University of Tartu and has also completed his complementary studies of International Relations, Polish History and Slavonic languages at Warsaw University.
Ambassador Reinhold was awarded the Order of Merit of the White Star by the President of Estonia in February 2024.
In addition to his native Estonian, he speaks English and Russian, holds the diplomatic rank of Senior Counsellor.
Ambassador is married to Ms Krista Reinhold with two adult children.
